This blog is emerging as part of our journey in baby led weaning. We being my son, 7 1/2 months at the time this blog was started, and I.
I chose BLW because I wanted to give my son the best introduction to solids that I could, a broad palate, not overload him with spoonfuls of one food, minimise allegies, make meal times a sociable and enjoyable event, and make my life easier... If you're reading this, you've probably had similar thoughts.
Quite early in the journey I found the promises of how your baby can just eat what you eat were really a bit of an exaggeration. Sometimes yes, that works fine, but in reality more often than not it turned out that I would eat what he ate. I guess that's why it's called Baby Led!
On the day that I found myself eating fish fingers with cucumber sticks and baby corn, I decided I needed to do things differently. What I needed was meals that were suitable for grown ups, but that worked for him too. In addition, they needed to be quick and simple to prepare in between caring for a energetic boy on the move. Things where you could make extra and freeze it in portions for another day were also desirable.
So, I started to get a bit more creative. The things that worked well, that I want to cook again I have recorded here, for my own benefit, and maybe yours too. It's not Masterchef by any stretch of the imagination, but its a definite improvement on fishfingers and cucumber!
